About Southwestern Baptist Association
The Southwestern Baptist Association ministers to a diverse group of people in Grant, Hidalgo, Catron and Luna counties. SWBA churches partner together to carry out the Great Commission. As we partner together we are able to support a variety of ministries that build up believers and reach the lost world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Who We Are
We are a group of 14 separate Baptist churches and mission points working cooperatively to bring the Gospel message to the southwestern region of New Mexico. The Southwestern Baptist Association area stretches from Columbus on the southern border north to Glenwood, and from the southwest at Rodeo to the northeast to Mimbres Valley. We believe that a cooperating church is better able to minister to more individuals working together.
The purpose of SWBA is to be a resource of support for each of the churches and to enable them to minister well in its local community and region. SWBA seeks to help equip pastors and lay leaders for the work of the ministry, to promote healthy churches, and to plant churches that will take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world and disciple its people.
Our Doctrinal Foundation
SWBA and its member churches affirm the Baptist Faith & Message (2000). We believe in the authority and inerrancy of Holy Scripture, the deity of Jesus Christ, salvation by grace through faith alone, and the autonomy of the local church working in voluntary cooperative partnership.
Our Regional Coverage
Our association stretches from Columbus on the southern border north to Glenwood, and from the southwest at Rodeo to the northeast to Mimbres Valley — covering Grant, Hidalgo, Catron, and Luna counties in Southwestern New Mexico.
The Cooperative Program & SWBA Giving
Southern Baptist churches combine resources through the Cooperative Program (CP) and local association giving to send missionaries globally, support seminary students, plant new churches, and maintain regional disaster relief infrastructure.
